"They came in underrated, younger and half the size of the other teams, but they came in with heart," Frank Ski said of Saturday's winning Youth Bowl team, Union Grove Wolverines aka "Coo-Coo Nation."
Fighting for victory, and $20,000 in prizes from the Frank Ski Youth Foundation, Coo-Coo Nation endured a hard fought battle against contending teams: the Central Dekalb Jaguars, Peachtree Ridge Lions and the Georgia Rattlers --but to many the win was predestined.
"I'm proud of my kids," said Wolverine Coach Mario Langston. "I knew when we first got the call we would be taking home a victory."
"Play hard, play smart and have fun," were Cam Newton's commandments via jumbo screen to the 12-and-under players; and it was exactly what the Coo-Coo Nation did.
Now in the 8th year, Frank Ski Youth Bowl was created to select deserving teams to give back to through friendly competition.
