Free short stack at IHOP for National Pancake Day

(WXIA) -- Tuesday is National Pancake Day, and all Atlanta-area IHOP locations are celebrating by offering free short stacks to customers who support Children's Miracle Network.

Every year, IHOP restaurants raise money for children's hospitals nationwide, including Children's Healthcare of Atlanta, on National Pancake Day. Diners have the option of making a donation in exchange for free buttermilk pancakes.

Reigning Miss Georgia Maggie Bridges stopped by the IHOP in Chamblee Tuesday morning, where she served breakfast and spoke with Children's Miracle Network Champion Sutton Burnett. Other local Miracle Children visited the IHOP restaurants in Peachtree City, Smyrna and Woodstock.

IHOP offering 56¢ pancakes for anniversary

(WXIA) -- In July of 1958, the very first International House of Pancakes opened in Toluca Lake, Calif. Today, IHOP has 1,627 restaurants in all 50 states, the District of Columbia and several countries across the globe.

To celebrate its 56th anniversary, the chain will offer its signature buttermilk pancakes for less than they cost in the 1950s.

On Tuesday, July 8 from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., IHOP customers can purchase a short stack for only 56¢. The pancakes cost 60¢ when the flagship restaurant opened.

IHOP claims it serves more than 700 million pancakes every year. Only one other flavor -- chocolate chip -- has been on its menu since 1958.
