(WXIA) -- A Georgia girl is well on her way to becoming a seasoned stage actress. This summer, Tangela Large starred in the award-winning play Clybourne Park.

The play was written by Bruce Norris in response to the classic 1959 Lorraine Hansberry play A Raisin in the Sun. It won the 2011 Pulitzer Prize for Drama and 2012 Tony Award for Best Play.

"Being in this play was such a blessing," Large said. "I saw two different productions, and I got a chance to meet Bruce Norris and hear his inspiration and views about his playwritings. I basically fell in love with the play because I felt that the text was romantic and also very necessary."

Large grew up in East Point and graduated from the University of West Georgia in 2010. She is currently attending Brown University on a full scholarship.
