IHOP offering free pancakes for charitable donations

(WXIA) -- IHOP will once again participate in the National Pancake Day promotion on Tuesday, Mar. 4.

Customers who visit any IHOP location on National Pancake Day will be treated to a free short stack of buttermilk pancakes. In exchange, the restaurant chain encourages diners to leave a donation for a number of charities, namely the Children's Miracle Network Hospitals.

Beginning this Saturday, Feb. 1, IHOP will collect donations for Children's Miracle Network Hospitals. Customers can buy paper balloons that cost either $1 or $5. The balloons will hang in IHOP restaurants through National Pancake Day.

Anyone who purchases a $5 balloon will receive a $5 IHOP coupon to use on a future visit.

ATLANTA -- MARTA has rescheduled bus operator recruitment from Friday, Jan. 31 to Friday, Feb. 7 at Fulton County’s Adamsville Workforce Development Office.

The deadline for completion of customer service assessments has been moved to Wednesday, Feb. 5. Adamsville is located at 3700 Martin Luther King Jr. Drive SW. The office is open from 8:30 a.m. until 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. 

Before visiting Adamsville, all applicants must take the following steps:

ATLANTA -- The Office of Workforce Development in the Adamsville Regional Health Center will host MARTA for bus operator recruitment.

The recruitment will be held on Friday, Jan 31. Recruiters are seeking full-time bus operators. Attendees will have the opportunity to talk with MARTA human resources personnel about the position.

Adamsville is located at 3700 Martin Luther King Jr. Drive SW, Atlanta. The office is open from 8:30 a.m. until 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Business attire is required to participate in the recruitment.

Rep. Mike Glanton to speak at Everest College graduation

ATLANTA -- Georgia Rep. Mike Glanton (D-Jonesboro) will be the speaker at this weekend's Everest College graduation ceremony.

About 500 students from Everest's four Atlanta-area campuses will graduate Saturday at the Georgia World Congress Center in Downtown Atlanta.

"I am honored to be asked to speak to these soon-to-be graduates," Glanton said in a statement. "This is a monumental event in each of their lives, and I am humbled to be a part of that."

Everest College offers degrees in such fields as health care, pharmacy, massage and criminal justice.

2 Workforce Development offices to host taxamize accounting recruitments

ATLANTA -- The Fulton County Office of Workforce Development will host taxamize accounting recruitments at the Adamsville Regional Health Center and the South Fulton Career Center. Taxamize is seeking tax preparers with “great attitude and a hard work ethic.”

Adamsville will host the first recruitment on Friday, Jan. 17, with the information session beginning at 10 a.m. The interviewing sessions are scheduled to begin at 11 a.m. Adamsville is located at 3700 Martin Luther King Jr. Drive SW.

The second taxamize recruitment will be held Tuesday, Jan. 21, in the South Fulton Career Center located at 5710 Stonewall Tell Road, Suite 160 in College Park. The information session begins at 10 a.m. and interviewing sessions will begin at 11 a.m.  In order to attend the 10 a.m. information sessions, applicants should arrive by 9:45 a.m. for pre-registration. All applicants are expected to “dress for success” with business attire.

ATLANTA -- Children and families in need and outstanding students will be the focus of a “Community Cares” Christmas Celebration on Friday, December 20, 2013, from 5:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.  The event will feature distribution of toys, clothing, non-perishable items and recognition of students who have demonstrated academic excellence and perfect attendance.  Community partners supporting the event with entertainment, food, resources and giveaways include Fulton County Housing and Human Services Department, Office of Children and Youth, V103 FM, Music Education Group (MEG), Treasure Chest, Inc., and other caring sponsors.
