Kids Animated Series Veggie Tales: The Little Drummer Boy Premieres in ATL

Kids can have their cartoons…and moral lessons too…

On Monday, July 11, Big Idea, a leading producer of family-oriented programming, premiered Veggie Tales: The Little Drummer Boy, in Atlanta.

Based on the original 1968 version of The Little Drummer Boy, Veggie Tales: The Little Drummer Boy, reintroduced the classic story of the nativity to children with an imaginative veggie adaption.  Starring Junior Asparagus as The Little Drummer Boy -a lonely child who finds the true meaning of Christmas when he stumbles upon the birth of the baby Jesus, the short video teaches about giving and forgiveness, while featuring music by award-winning artists BeBe and CeCe Winans.

“We are honored to put together such a fun Veggie Tales twist on this classic tale, while helping to spread a memorable message to kids about giving to others even if they think they have nothing to give,”  said Greg Fritz, SVP of Sales and Marketing of Big Idea Entertainment.

Available on DVD Oct. 1, Atlanta was chosen as the anchor city for the screening to coincide with the International Christian Retail Show, held this year at the Georgia World Congress with more than 8,000 attendees.

Hundreds of retailers and churches across the country will take part in additional screenings and events closer to the scheduled release date.

Veggie Tales is the No. 1 animated home video series in the U.S. among moms of pre-school aged children.  Over 74 million videos, books and cds have been sold from the popular series.
