Suspects steal car with girl inside; child later found safe

ATLANTA -- Atlanta Police are working to identify two men accused of stealing a car with a little girl inside.

It happened July 16 outside Cash America Pawn on Delowe Drive near Campbellton Road in southwest Atlanta.

The victim told police he removed items from the trunk of his Dodge Charger and only walked a few feet away when two men jumped into the car and sped off. He said his 3-year-old daughter was asleep in the back seat.

According to a police report, the car was recovered minutes later in East Point. The little girl was still asleep inside; she was examined and deemed in good health. Her father will not face charges.

The victim reported several items missing from his recovered car, including his wallet and driver's license, a Bank of America debit card, a $10 bill and a pack of cigarettes.

Police are now looking for the two men accused of stealing the car. Both suspects were recorded on surveillance video inside Cash America Pawn. They are described as young black men. One was wearing a white tank top and Spiderman hat, while the other wore sunglasses and a light grey T-shirt. Police said the suspects arrived at the store in a brown Kia pickup truck driven by a middle-aged man.

Anyone with information in this case is asked to call Crime Stoppers Greater Atlanta at 404-577-TIPS. Tipsters may be eligible for a reward of up to $2,000.
