East Point needs more seniors to take advantage of their Free Transportation Services | Community Spirit
East Point NORC has been awarded funds from the Freedom Grant to provide transportation services to seniors with limited transportation, who are at least 60 years old or older and live in East Point. I know that there are seniors in need of transportation that live in East Point and in order to keep the NORC in our neighborhood this program needs to be utilized. We have a number of slots we need to fill and it’s really up to us to make sure we keep good programs in our community.
The Transportation Reimbursement for East Point Program (TREP) has been around since the inception of the East Point NORC in 2003. The program has helped seniors keep their independence and their dignity while aging in place. Please support the TREP program and the East Point NORC by spreading the word about this awesome program. Seniors who utilize this program are able to travel to doctors visits outside of Fulton and DeKalb County, take small shopping trips to outlet malls, and even go to the theatre to see a show on the weekend. East Point seniors want to active and vibrant lives and we can help by informing them of the services available right here in their community.
A taxi from a senior’s home in East Point to the grocery store can cost a senior $25 or more but with TREP seniors can receive a $100 voucher book for $10! This is not a mass transit service it’s a personal, door to door transportation option to provide affordable and quality transportation services for those with limited transportation.
