“History and Culture Day” to Highlight Darnell Senior Facility’s 12th Anniversary Celebration

On Tuesday, December 6, 2011 at 10:00 a.m., Georgia artist Malaika Favorite will re-introduce her “Studies in Black History, 1999” as a part of History and Culture Day at the Harriett G. Darnell Senior Multipurpose Facility, 677 Fairburn Road, N.W. Atlanta.

Introduced by the Fulton County Public Art Commission in 1999 for the opening of the Facility, the collection includes 28 mixed-media paintings reflecting the life stories of the people and places within the surrounding community.

10/20/2011- Da Hot Commodity,  visited the studio of SINGER, PRODUCER, SONGWRITER and MUSICIAN, JEBRON of BET's, "Lens On Talent!: Jebron is a very talented individual.  Lip synching and playing records for his mother as a child he is now 28 years old and has been doing music professionally for 10 years. In his words, he is a man 1st. Singing is his 1st love. Currently he has been working hard doing performances in  NY, DC, and here in Atlanta. In ATLANTA he is working on the HBCU Tour. Writing and producing music right now his, "TIME OF MY LIFE" FULL CIRCLE CD. Expect this hot, jazzy and neo-soul style of music to be hitting the shelves around 1st Quarter of 2012! Acting for Tyler Perry sitcoms, JeBron is expanding his fan-base with his "MUSIC and MEALS" TV Show. The first episode coming in November 2011. I hear it's gonna be great and getting awesome feedback. Yes!

Join Underground Atlanta, the Office of Cultural Affairs and The Imperial Opa Circus on October 29th  from 5-11 pm to celebrate the closing of Elevate II Art Above Underground. Through the months of August, September and October of 2011 The City of Atlanta Public Art Program funded and provided platforms for over 50 artists and nearly 30 projects and performances.This closing event will continue to support an array of talent by supporting theatrical acts and contemporary art through a structured and exciting event FREE to the public.

ASO to honor Metro Atlanta music teachers

ATLANTA -- The Atlanta Symphony Orchestra will hold an appreciation ceremony for more than 180 Atlanta-area music teachers Friday evening.

The teachers will be recognized at 7 p.m. by ASO president Stanley Romanstein. Afterward, the instructors will attend the evening's concert featuring the music of Rimsky-Korsakov, Rachmaninov and Mussorgsky.

ASO cellist Joel Dallow will also receive a special award from Romanstein for his arts education advocacy work throughout Georgia.

Both the 8 p.m. concert and the preceding reception will take place at the Woodruff Arts Center, 1280 Peachtree Street NE, Midtown.
